Erling Haaland’s Position on New Manchester City Deal Revealed Amid Barcelona and Real Madrid Interest

Erling Haaland has kicked off the 2024-25 season in remarkable fashion for Manchester City, netting seven goals, including two hat-tricks, in his first three games. Despite his outstanding performances and apparent contentment at the Etihad, rumors surrounding his future persist, with interest from clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Haaland has three years remaining on his current contract with City, but discussions over an extension have proven difficult. While Haaland is open to staying longer at the club, his representatives have made it clear that they will not agree to remove the release clauses in his contract.
When Haaland signed with City in 2022 on a five-year deal, his contract included release clauses set to take effect from 2024. One such clause, tied to Pep Guardiola’s tenure, was deactivated when Guardiola extended his contract. However, another release clause, reportedly around £150 million, is set to become active in 2025, potentially allowing Haaland to leave the club, although the specific terms and fee may evolve as his contract progresses.
