Barcelona Targets Bundesliga Stars for 2025 Reinforcements

Barcelona is facing pivotal decisions as they plan for the 2024-2025 season, particularly regarding the futures of several key players with expiring contracts. Inigo Martinez, whose contract ends in 2025, has become a key figure in defense due to injuries to Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo. Similarly, Araujo, Christensen, and Eric Garcia have contracts expiring in 2026, along with Frenkie de Jong.

To address these potential gaps, Barcelona is targeting prominent Bundesliga players while managing their financial constraints. According to *Mundo Deportivo*, two major targets are:

1. **Jonathan Tah**: The Bayer Leverkusen defender, whose contract expires this season, was a target in the recent transfer window but a deal didn’t materialize due to financial constraints and Leverkusen’s reluctance to strengthen a rival. Barcelona hopes to sign him as a free agent next year, though competition from other top clubs is expected.

2. **Joshua Kimmich**: The Bayern Munich midfielder, who is also out of contract next year, is highly sought after by Barcelona. New coach Hansi Flick, who has previously worked with Kimmich, values his versatility and could give Barcelona an edge. However, Real Madrid is also interested in Kimmich, making the competition for his signature intense.

Barcelona’s strategy involves balancing current squad needs with financial realities, aiming to strengthen their squad by targeting high-quality players who will become available on free transfers.
