Liverpool FC scouted Goncalo Inacio ‘for years’ as transfer talks re-emerge

Liverpool’s interest in Sporting Lisbon defender Gonçalo Inácio seems to be intensifying as reports suggest the club has been scouting the Portuguese international for years. With his name frequently linked to the Reds, it appears that they may finally make a move for the talented 22-year-old.

Inácio, who has already established himself as a key player for Sporting and the Portuguese national team, fits Liverpool’s profile of a young center-back with experience and versatility. His ability to play as a right-back and even in midfield, combined with his long-range passing and defensive skills, makes him an attractive option for the Reds, especially given their defensive needs.

While there hasn’t been any official confirmation of Liverpool’s pursuit, the noise surrounding Inácio’s potential move continues to grow. The fact that Manchester United has also been linked to him adds an element of competition, though their recent signing of Yoro might lessen their interest in the Portuguese defender.

If Liverpool decides to act on their interest, they will need to meet the release clause in Inácio’s contract, which is reportedly valued at around £51 million (€60 million/$65 million). With his impressive performances for Sporting and his growing reputation on the international stage, Inácio could be a valuable addition to Liverpool’s squad as they look to strengthen their defense.
