Arne Slot ready to change Liverpool player’s position as ‘private’ pre-season chat leaked

Arne Slot, in his first pre-season as Liverpool manager, is planning to change the role of one of Jürgen Klopp’s last signings, Dominik Szoboszlai, to maximize his impact. Slot, who signed a three-year deal, replaced Klopp this summer after Klopp’s successful near-decade-long tenure, during which he won numerous titles including the Premier League and Champions League.

Liverpool has played two pre-season friendlies under Slot. They lost 1-0 to Preston North End in a closed-door match but won 1-0 against Real Betis in Pittsburgh, with Szoboszlai scoring the decisive goal. Szoboszlai, who joined from RB Leipzig last summer for €70 million, had a solid first season, scoring seven goals in 45 games.

According to The Times, Slot is rethinking Szoboszlai’s position. Initially, there was talk of Szoboszlai moving to a deeper No. 6 role, but Slot seems to have found another way to utilize Liverpool’s fourth-most-expensive signing.

As Liverpool continues their pre-season tour in the USA and prepares for upcoming friendlies against Arsenal, Manchester United, and Sevilla, it will be interesting to see how Slot positions Szoboszlai and if any new signings are made before the season begins.
