Footage has surfaced of Robbie Brady’s spectacular 40-yard goal for Preston North End against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly. The Championship team secured a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in a behind-closed-doors match at the AXA Training Centre.

Despite the absence of many key Liverpool players following Euro 2024 and Copa America, stars like Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were present. Preston North End’s Twitter account announced the full-time result and highlighted Brady’s “incredible 40-yard lob” as the match’s decisive moment.

The footage, shared by Preston North End, shows Brady intercepting a forward pass intended for Conor Bradley from Jarell Quansah. Brady then took one touch before noticing Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Varoslav Jaros, off his line. With precision, Brady launched the ball over Jaros’ head, striking the crossbar and landing in the net.

The match against Preston North End marked Liverpool’s first unofficial encounter under new manager Arne Slot. In this game, Salah was named captain for his first-half appearance.

Liverpool’s first televised pre-season match is scheduled for July 27 against Real Betis in the United States. The team is still awaiting the return of several senior players who are on international duty, including Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool will begin their Premier League campaign with an away game at Portman Road against newly-promoted Ipswich Town on August 17. Preston North End will start their Championship season at home against Sheffield United on August 9.
