Luke Shaw names Man Utd wonderkid as the one young player fans need to watch out for next season as he plans to retire his position for him.

Manchester United’s tradition of nurturing top football talent continues, with Luke Shaw recently singling out a new wonderkid to watch: Harry Amass. Shaw, a key player for both Manchester United and the England national team, made the revelation in an interview with GOAL.
Manchester United’s academy has a storied history of developing some of football’s greatest players. Icons like David Beckham, Gary Neville, Marcus Rashford, Paul Scholes, and Bobby Charlton all emerged from United’s youth system. Shaw’s endorsement of Amass suggests the continuation of this legacy.
Amass, a young left-back, joined Manchester United from Watford’s academy last August and has quickly made his mark. For the U18 side, he has scored once and provided four assists in 22 matches. His impressive performances earned him a spot on the bench for United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool in April, a match that ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Shaw, currently on international duty with England for Euro 2024, has been dealing with an injury that sidelined him from United since February. Despite this, England manager Gareth Southgate included Shaw in the squad, emphasizing his importance to the team. Southgate acknowledged the pressure of the tournament, stating, “If we don’t win, I probably won’t be here anymore. So maybe it is the last chance. I think around half the national coaches leave after a tournament – that’s the nature of international football. I’ve been here almost eight years now and we’ve come close.”
Luke Shaw’s recognition of Harry Amass highlights the young talent’s potential and reinforces Manchester United’s reputation for developing future stars. Fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Amass’s progress, hopeful that he will follow in the footsteps of the club’s legendary academy graduates.
