Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is eager to “continue his adventure” at Manchester United next season, according to *Corriere dello Sport* (page 22). The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils on loan from Fiorentina last summer for €10 million, with an option for United to buy him for €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Despite Amrabat’s interest in staying, Manchester United’s management appears hesitant.

Amrabat is scheduled to return to Fiorentina at the end of June, with the Serie A club already discussing a permanent transfer with Galatasaray. However, United still have time to decide on whether to purchase Amrabat.

Amrabat arrived at United last summer amid high expectations, having attracted interest from several clubs before signing with United on transfer deadline day. However, he struggled to adapt to the Premier League’s intensity and found himself benched in early 2024, with Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo preferred in midfield.

Amrabat eventually reclaimed a regular starting spot in May, delivering strong performances against Arsenal and Newcastle United, and starting in the FA Cup final due to Casemiro’s minor injury. Despite these glimpses of his potential, the club’s hierarchy remains unconvinced about signing him permanently.

There is still a chance for this decision to change. Amrabat, praised as a “world-class” player by Morocco manager Walid Regragui, might stay at the club if Erik ten Hag remains the manager. However, if Ten Hag is replaced, the new manager may prefer to pursue his own targets rather than convincing the board to keep Amrabat.
