In a video shared by @BradJCox_ on X (formerly Twitter), Ratcliffe was captured walking through the mixed zone at Wembley after his team’s victory. The 71-year-old was seen congratulating Ten Hag and his players on the stadium’s balcony before their trophy lift.

He walked alongside Sir Dave Brailsford with a serious expression, and wasn’t approached until he reached the end of the corridor. Just before exiting, a reporter called out to him, prompting Ratcliffe to stop and look to his left.

Brailsford placed his hand on Ratcliffe’s back, seemingly trying to guide him through the door, but Ratcliffe paused, determined to hear the reporter’s question. When asked, “Is Erik staying?” Ratcliffe turned his back on the questioner and walked through the door, with murmurs heard in the mixed zone.

Ten Hag, after the game, made a final plea to save his job, expressing uncertainty about his future with the club. He attributed the team’s disappointing season, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League, to injuries.

Despite the challenges, he emphasized his commitment to developing the team and achieving success. Regarding his future, he admitted, “I don’t know… When I came in I can say it was a mess. Now we are better.

We are not where we want to be.” He highlighted the importance of winning trophies and expressed pride in the team’s performance in the FA Cup victory.
