“He displayed a lack of professionalism, and it left me thoroughly disappointed. Instead of accepting my correction, he shouted at me with an insult. Despite creating numerous opportunities for him, he declined to score. I’m perplexed as to why he wasn’t substituted off. His performance today had a detrimental impact on our game,” Bruno Fernandes candidly reveals a shocking admission about his conceited teammate following the Manchester City defeat.

Following Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City, Bruno Fernandes has made a candid admission. The 29-year-old played the entire 90 minutes as United succumbed to defeat, despite initially taking the lead in the first half. Fernandes, serving as the United captain, provided the assist for Marcus Rashford, whose powerful strike found the net via the crossbar.

Despite valiant defensive efforts led by André Onana and Raphaël Varane, Phil Foden managed to break through their resistance with a stunning long-range goal. He later added another goal to his tally, with Erling Haaland capitalizing on Sofyan Amrabat’s error to seal the game in added time.

Reflecting on the game, Fernandes conceded that although United’s game plan seemed effective, there was a discernible gap in quality between the two sides on the pitch. “At halftime, I mentioned that we were executing our plan well,” Fernandes remarked, as cited by United Zone. “However, the difference in individual quality from Manchester City was evident.”

While this acknowledgment may not come as a surprise to supporters, it is nonetheless disheartening to hear the captain openly concede to such disparities following a defeat where United appeared outmatched by Guardiola’s team.

Fernandes continued by discussing the team’s dedication and defensive efforts in the face of City’s dominance.

“I believe the team demonstrated commitment throughout,” Fernandes conveyed to Sky Sports. “We had our opportunities. At times, we retreated too deep, but it’s a challenge defending against City, as they press teams relentlessly.”

Addressing the challenge of securing a spot in the Champions League following the defeat, Fernandes underscored the importance of winning games for a club like Manchester United.

“Every time we fail to win a match, it’s detrimental to this club,” Fernandes asserted. “We understand the expectations of this club, and we strive to win every game we participate in.

“Although we didn’t secure three points today, there’s still a long road ahead. We recognize that not everything is within our control, as other teams must drop points, but we must focus on our responsibilities and perform our best.”
