Michail Antonio extends an apology to all supporters of Liverpool.

Months after making a confident prediction, West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has issued an apology to both Liverpool players and fans. In September, prior to a match against Liverpool at Anfield, Antonio boldly declared that West Ham would triumph and finish above Liverpool in the season standings.

However, the reality proved different as Liverpool emerged victorious in the match, showcasing their dominance. Antonio’s apology reflects a gesture of sportsmanship and humility, acknowledging the unpredictability of football and expressing regret for any disappointment caused by his earlier statement.

“I am backing myself over Liverpool,” he confidently stated on the Footballer’s Football Podcast at the time. “You know what, I think we are going to finish higher than Liverpool this season. I’m putting it out there.

“I watched the game [Wolves vs Liverpool] because it was before our game and Wolves could have run away with it! They had quite a few opportunities. We’ve got them this weekend and it’s a six-pointer. We’ve got them!

“I don’t want Liverpool to win the league because you Liverpool fans are still in my inbox,” he remarked when speaking again on the Footballer’s Football podcast. “Get lost! I’m saying it with [my] chest. I don’t want Liverpool to win the league! Come for me! Arsenal get it. Man City, get it. That’s all I have to say about that!”
