“It was a significant letdown. My desire was solely to join Manchester United because I was a fan. However, upon visiting Old Trafford, the actions of the club were disheartening as they opted to sign someone else instead of me. It left me disconcerted…” – Gabriel Martinelli shares his disappointment regarding the unsuccessful Manchester United trial.

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli has revealed details about his unsuccessful trial with Manchester United during his youth. Martinelli, who is now 22 years old, made several visits to United during his time in the academy, with the last one occurring when he was 17. Despite these attempts, the Brazilian winger was not granted a place in the Old Trafford academy while he was playing for the Brazilian fourth-tier club Ituano.

Gabriel Martinelli, now a player for Arsenal, has reflected on the challenges he encountered during his trials with “a club the size of Manchester United.” Despite the initial hopes when going for a trial, Martinelli acknowledges that things unfolded as they were meant to. He believes that the trial not working out at Manchester United led him to Arsenal, where everything eventually worked out for his career.

In 2019, Gabriel Martinelli made the move to Arsenal and has since become a regular in the first team under the management of Mikel Arteta. This season, he has contributed seven goals and three assists, contributing to Arsenal’s position in third place in the Premier League table. Meanwhile, Manchester United, currently in sixth place, are five points behind Aston Villa, whom they defeated 2-1 in their recent match.
