In the 97th minute, Mainoo secured a magnificent game-winning goal for Manchester United. The academy product showcased his skills with a solo run and a precise curling finish.

In a thrilling match that ended 4-3 in favor of Manchester United, the 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo scored his first Premier League goal. Despite Wolves making a comeback from a 3-1 deficit and tying the game in stoppage time, Mainoo’s goal secured the victory.

Daniel Killeen, a Manchester United fan, shared on Twitter that he watched the match with his father Vincent, who sadly passed away due to cancer-related complications on Sunday. Killeen expressed gratitude to Mainoo for providing his family with a “truly brilliant and special moment” during the last match he watched with his father.

Killeen shared his emotions on social media, expressing frustration when Wolves equalized and then immense joy when Mainoo scored the incredible winner. He described the poignant moment of seeing his father celebrating with a smile, saying, “That’s why you watch United.” The father requested to remain for an interview with Mainoo, making the experience even more meaningful.

While I understand that football is primarily about winning trophies, Kobbie, the goal you just scored holds immense significance for our family. It has elevated you to the status of a hero in our home, and my seven-year-old son has chosen you as his favorite athlete.

I want to convey my gratitude for this remarkable and amazing moment. I believe your career will bring you many more such moments.

In response to Killeen’s emotional post on Twitter, both Manchester United and Mainoo extended an invitation to the fan and his son to attend a match at Old Trafford. Mainoo expressed his appreciation, saying, “I was truly moved by your story after seeing your message on Twitter. My deepest condolences on the loss of your father. I’m glad you could share such a memorable time together, and I’m honored to have contributed in some small way to that.”

He further invited Killeen and his son to attend a match at Old Trafford in the near future, assuring that arrangements would be made. This gesture comes after Mainoo’s impactful performance, scoring the game-winning goal in only his second appearance for Manchester United’s first squad.

Mainoo initiated his goal-scoring account for Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Newport County. His remarkable season at Old Trafford includes 16 appearances for the first team across various competitions, marking a noteworthy achievement for the academy product.
