The rise of Kobbie Mainoo is certainly a source of excitement for Manchester United fans, offering a positive note in a season that hasn’t provided much to cheer about.

The 18-year-old prodigy, Kobbie Mainoo, has seamlessly integrated into the team whenever called upon, and his spectacular injury-time goal that secured a victory against Wolves showcased his remarkable skills to the footballing world.

Despite already being under a long-term contract with the club until 2027, with an option for an additional year, Manchester United is reportedly keen on initiating discussions for a new deal with Mainoo. The young talent, recognized as one of the most gifted players globally, is excelling in the midfield for Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano, in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, revealed that Manchester United is already preparing a new contract proposal for Mainoo. While it’s not an urgent matter, the club aims to finalize it this year in 2024, considering that the player’s current contract still has a substantial duration remaining.

Kobbie is identified by the club as someone they wish to represent both in the present and future. Recognizing his tremendous talent, they believe it’s crucial to adequately compensate him and ensure he feels like a vital player for Manchester United.

Mainoo, alongside players like Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho, is seen as a key part of the future for the iconic Old Trafford team. Hence, the club is making efforts to express their appreciation for his exceptional qualities.

While Erik ten Hag might not witness the player’s entire development, there’s no doubt about the Dutchman’s commitment to nurturing the younger generation, despite his perceived shortcomings. Notably, his past success with a youthful Ajax squad highlights his dedication to developing young stars.

However, Manchester United is not currently at a stage in their development where they can rely on youth development as a primary cornerstone contributing to the foundation of their game.
