Liverpool midfielder Thiago has encountered another setback, facing a new injury just days after returning to the pitch following a 10-month absence. His first appearance since April 2023 in Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal was marred by a late second-half entrance that resulted in a muscle issue, as reported by The Guardian.

This setback compounds Thiago’s challenges, with injuries plaguing his time at Anfield since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2020. Given his current contract’s impending expiration this summer, it seems unlikely that Thiago will secure an extension, pointing towards a departure from Anfield as a free agent at the season’s end. Despite his talent, persistent injuries have significantly limited Thiago’s playing time under Klopp, with his last start dating back to February 2023.

In the latest updates, Thiago Alcantara has suffered a significant hamstring injury, raising concerns that he may have concluded his playing career for Liverpool.

Accompanying Thiago in the potential departure list are Adrian and Joel Matip, both nearing the conclusion of their contracts. Matip’s season was prematurely ended due to an ACL injury, while Adrian currently holds the third-choice goalkeeper position behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher. Additionally, promising young talents such as Mateusz Musialowski, Melkamu Frauendorf, and Paul Glatzel are also approaching the end of their respective contracts.

On a positive note, Liverpool has welcomed back Wataru Endō following Japan’s exit from the Asian Cup. As they face upcoming fixtures, including a match against Burnley at Anfield, Liverpool aims to regroup and recover from their recent defeat to Arsenal.
