Zinedine Zidane, who has been without a club since 2021, might find the prospect of moving to the Premier League and taking charge at Liverpool tempting, as suggested by L’Equipe journalist Nabil Djellit.

On Friday, Jurgen Klopp revealed his decision to depart from Liverpool in the summer after achieving six major trophies since his arrival at the club in 2015 from Borussia Dortmund. In an announcement video shared on Liverpool’s social media, Klopp acknowledged feeling “running out of energy” to lead the team forward, leading him to the conclusion that stepping away at the end of the season was the best course of action.

In his announcement, Klopp expressed his deep love for every aspect of Liverpool, including the club, city, supporters, team, and staff. Despite this affection, he clarified that his decision to step down stems from feeling a depletion of energy. He emphasized that he knew about this decision for a while and is now convinced it is the right one, acknowledging his inability to repeatedly perform the job with the same level of intensity.

Speculation about Klopp’s successor has been rampant, with Xabi Alonso emerging as an early favorite. Other names like Jose Mourinho, Steven Gerrard, and Edin Terzic have also been mentioned. Now, Zinedine Zidane, who reportedly rejected Manchester United in the past, has surfaced as a potential candidate. L’Equipe journalist Djellit suggested that Zidane, who was previously hesitant about a move to the Premier League, is now considering challenges at clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United. Djellit wouldn’t be surprised if the French legend ends up at Liverpool.

“But perhaps he might be enticed by the prospect of managing in the best league in the world. Having achieved success with Real Madrid, one of the top clubs globally, winning three Champions League titles, an unprecedented feat, Zidane may consider trying his hand in the Premier League if the France national team job takes time to become available. It wouldn’t be surprising.”
