BREAKING: Pep Guardiola issues a Premier League warning to Liverpool ⚠️ 🤨

Pep Guardiola issued a warning to current Premier League leaders Liverpool following Manchester City’s successful return to domestic action on Wednesday night after winning the Club World Cup. City came from behind at halftime to defeat Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park, benefiting from a controversial penalty decision against Amadou Onana for a handball.
With this result, the champions are now within five points of Liverpool with a game in hand. Guardiola intends to remind Liverpool of the standards they must maintain, considering City’s success in securing five of the last six league titles.
Speaking after City’s comeback victory against Everton, Guardiola stated, “That’s why we are the world champion, the best team in the world. Now I’m going to remind them every day. We have standards to keep. We cannot let the standards go down.”
City remains a top contender for many to secure another Premier League title, particularly with the return of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne from injuries. The team has a track record of prolonged winning streaks in the latter stages of previous seasons. However, this season brings a distinctive challenge with Liverpool emerging as a direct competitor. Since 2017, Jurgen Klopp’s team has been the only other side to assert domestic supremacy, often pushing Guardiola’s squad until the final day.
No other team has consistently posed a challenge to City during Guardiola’s tenure at the Etihad Stadium, and Liverpool has showcased their resilience on numerous occasions this season, sometimes making comebacks even with 10 men.
Liverpool is expecting City to pick up momentum after January, considering the potent late-season surges the latter has exhibited in the past. Nevertheless, they are prepared to match City’s challenge as both teams gear up for a potential surge in the new year.
