“This is the missing element we’ve lacked for years. It’s akin to how Madrid acquired Vinicius, how Barca secured Pedri, and how PSG obtained Mbappe. The new owners are now replicating the same strategy for the club.” – INEOS’ allure for “mega-talent” sparks Manchester United’s transfer motivation, promising long-term benefits.

FC Lausanne-Sport has secured the loan signing of 17-year-old Simone Pafundi from Udinese, a move that could potentially pave the way for a future career at Manchester United. While the connection between the two entities may not be immediately apparent, FC Lausanne-Sport is now part of INEOS’ expanding network of clubs, which includes Manchester United following their assumption of control over all sporting matters at Old Trafford. Swiss newspaper Blick (via Sport Witness) has published an extensive piece discussing Simone Pafundi’s signing, delving into the potential pathway that could lead the talented forward to join Manchester United.

The report suggests that the player’s move to Lausanne, and consequently the potential pathway to OGC Nice and Manchester United, would not have materialized without Lausanne’s connections to INEOS. The idea is that if he distinguishes himself in the Swiss league, there is a possibility of him eventually joining Old Trafford.

It is highly likely that he will receive ample opportunities to showcase his talent in Switzerland. However, if he fails to feature in at least 50% of the games during the summer, Udinese retains the option to recall him. Lausanne and INEOS also hold the option to purchase the Italian talent for a fee of approximately £13 million, and if this occurs, it would be a move that significantly surpasses any other in the Swiss league.

Pafundi is hailed as a “mega-talent” by those who have observed his performances. His move to Lausanne is driven by his aspiration to eventually join United, making this transfer a noteworthy one to monitor in the upcoming seasons. INEOS will closely monitor his performances during his loan spell at Lausanne to assess whether activating the buy-option is a viable decision. This would bring the young talent onto their radar for a potential future move to Old Trafford.
