Manchester United expressed a strong interest in securing the talents of Real Madrid’s Brazilian standout, Vinicius Jr., and even proposed a lucrative contract. Despite offering an impressive financial package, surpassing 20 million euros per season or £335,000 weekly, the 23-year-old winger chose to extend his tenure with Los Blancos. Reports from Defensa Central indicate that Vinicius Jr. was previously earning around 3 million euros annually at Real Madrid but has now agreed to a new contract worth 10 million euros per season.

Vinicius Jr. has emerged as a top-tier attacking talent on the global stage, attaining notable success with Real Madrid. His standout moment includes scoring the decisive goal in the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool in Paris last year. Throughout the 2022-23 season, he made substantial contributions, registering 23 goals and providing 21 assists in various competitions for the 14-time European champions.

In the ongoing season, the quick-paced forward has been featured in the starting lineup for nine matches under Carlo Ancelotti’s management, directly contributing to six goals with three goals and three assists. His primary position is on the left flank, a role similar to Marcus Rashford’s at Old Trafford, with Rashford delivering standout performances for Manchester United in the previous season.

While the addition of Vinicius Jr. would have certainly enhanced Manchester United’s attacking prowess under Erik ten Hag, the primary concern for the club remains its defensive vulnerabilities. The team has consistently struggled with conceding goals, emphasizing the need to prioritize defensive reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.
