Liverpool is closely monitoring a highly skilled defensive midfielder in Europe renowned for his exceptional tackling abilities, but there is a specific factor hindering their interest, as per reports.
Liverpool’s scouts are presently keeping tabs on Morten Frendrup from Genoa, although a transfer in January seems unlikely at the moment.
Reportedly, the Merseyside club is hesitant to pursue a deal, partly due to the holding midfielder’s non-homegrown status.
“The search for a long-term occupant for the No.6 position at Anfield goes on, despite both Mac Allister and Endo operating there this term,” noted Paul Gorst for the Liverpool Echo.
Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is under observation, and although he is having a promising season in Serie A, it is unlikely that a deal will be finalized in January. Scouts are continuously evaluating the progress of the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.
However, his non-homegrown status is perceived as a drawback at this point. Despite this, the 22-year-old is currently recognized as one of the top-tackling midfielders in Europe, boasting an impressive record in the 99th percentile for tackles, according to FBref.
