“Why are they selling our most talented young players? These players represent the finest talents from our academy in quite some time. What impact is Erik ten Hag having on our club?” – Another Manchester United player makes a permanent move to Sevilla just days after Hannibal Mejbri’s loan.

Following Hannibal Mejbri’s loan deal, another Manchester United player has made a permanent move to Sevilla. Earlier this week, Sevilla revealed the loan signing of United midfielder Hannibal for the remainder of the season. The Tunisian, who opted out of his nation’s Africa Cup of Nations squad to secure his club future, joined Sevilla on loan with a deal that includes a £17.2 million option to buy. Despite making 10 appearances for United this season, Hannibal only started one Premier League game during that period.

In a matter of days, another player from Manchester United has followed Hannibal’s example and has now joined Sevilla on a permanent deal. Indeed, 20-year-old Mateo Mejia completed a permanent transfer to the La Liga side after spending four and a half years with United. Mejia, who originally joined United’s academy from hometown club Real Zaragoza in 2019, overcame several injury setbacks to become a regular for the club’s Under-21s, making 15 appearances and scoring against Arsenal and Leicester City last season.

The youngster, who is eligible to represent Colombia through his parents, traveled to the United States as part of United’s youth squad last summer and played in a friendly against League Two side Wrexham. Mateo, who trained with Erik ten Hag’s first team, featured in 12 games for the Under-21s this season, scoring three times.

Regarding the move, the club’s website stated: “We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Mateo all the best for the future – we’ll be following your career with great interest.” Meanwhile, Hannibal has shared insights into his decision to join the Andalusian outfit.

Expressing his thoughts via Manchester Evening News, the midfielder stated, “I am drawn to Sevilla’s project, and I believe I can contribute to improving the team this season. I am optimistic that we can progress together and achieve something significant in the remaining period. I have participated in eleven games this season, dedicated myself to rigorous training in Manchester, and feel prepared to play whenever the coach decides. I am in good shape, free from injuries, and I hope to maintain that condition.”

He added, “To be honest, I believe I can contribute in any position. As a footballer, my primary focus is on playing. I am adaptable to any position, although I must mention that I have a preference for positions like 8 or 10, in the center of the field. Nevertheless, I am content as long as I am on the field. I believe I can contribute both defensively and offensively. While everyone enjoys scoring and assisting, the paramount objective is to play as a cohesive team, defending and attacking collectively.”
