“It has been a persistent issue for him, and he seems unable to overcome it. He must acquire the necessary lessons, or he will find himself in a situation similar to Paul Pogba,” states Roy Keane as he discusses how Bruno Fernandes is detrimentally impacting Manchester United, drawing parallels with the situation of Paul Pogba.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has criticized current captain Bruno Fernandes for a particular attribute that could result in the team losing points. Speaking on the “Stick to Football” podcast, the Irishman highlighted Fernandes’ lack of discipline and awareness when not in possession as a concern for the Red Devils. Keane expressed, “There is a player out there, and if he’s doing all that stuff and producing magic, you almost forgive him. But if you’re in a struggling team and you’re doing all that stuff, that’s where it stands out, and you go, ‘you’re killing us, you’re costing us.'”

The 52-year-old also pointed out that this has been a consistent issue for the Portuguese midfielder. He remarked, “I reckon if you look back at his career, he’s done it in every team. It’s a trait – it’s not as if he’s an inexperienced player – leopards and spots.”

Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend and co-host of the podcast, concurred with the criticism, drawing a comparison between Fernandes and former Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba. Carragher expressed, “I think there’s a difference between a great talent and a great player. Pogba was a great talent, but I didn’t think he was a great player, and the same with Bruno Fernandes.” The former England defender characterized Fernandes as “emotional” and argued that this occasionally distracts fans when the midfielder performs poorly because “he’s working hard.”
