Chelsea’s offer of $92 million for the Sporting CP star is deemed insufficient.

Chelsea’s ambitious endeavor to acquire the standout talent Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP through a substantial $92 million bid has reportedly fallen short in the competitive landscape of football transfers, as per reports from GOAL. Gyokeres, the Swedish striker who has dazzled with an impressive record of 20 goals and 10 assists in just 24 appearances this season, is currently at the center of an intense transfer battle.
Despite Chelsea’s strong interest in securing Gyokeres, Sporting CP remains unwavering in their valuation, demanding a substantial €100 million for their star forward and emphasizing the non-negotiable release clause as the definitive benchmark. Sporting CP’s manager, Ruben Amorim, firmly defended the club’s stance, maintaining composure amid swirling transfer speculations and asserting that the initial bid of €85 million fell considerably short.
Viktor Gyokeres, initially acquired for a modest €20 million from Coventry City in 2023, has emerged as a sensation for Sporting CP, contributing to an impressive total of 30 goals since his arrival. With a contract extending until 2028, the Portuguese club shows no urgency to part ways with the prolific striker.
The player himself is in agreement with Sporting’s position, publicly stating his current lack of interest in potential suitors. Meanwhile, Chelsea, facing difficulties in scoring, is exploring various options in the market, including the reported openness to consider offers for Armando Broja.
However, the potential return of Christopher Nkunku from injury and Nicolas Jackson from the Africa Cup of Nations introduces an element of uncertainty to Chelsea’s transfer strategy, potentially influencing the speculated move of Gyokeres to Stamford Bridge. As this transfer saga unfolds, attention is focused on whether Chelsea will meet Sporting CP’s €100 million valuation for the Swedish goal-scoring dynamo.
