Manchester United

“Significantly superior to Antony and at a much more reasonable cost, I am delighted that he is expressing a desire to join Manchester United, especially after stating that United is his dream club. Manchester United has successfully convinced Chelsea to secure the transfer of the winger, who fans often refer to as the ‘England Mbappe,’ from Crystal Palace without a staggering £100 million price tag.”

Clinton Morrison believes that Michael Olise surpasses Antony in skill, and he has provided Manchester United with an estimate of the potential cost for acquiring the Crystal Palace star.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As Erik ten Hag grapples with addressing Manchester United’s scoring difficulties, there are reports indicating that the Red Devils have shown a keen interest in Olise. To facilitate a potential deal, they are reportedly willing to include Aaron Wan-Bissaka as part of the arrangement. The 22-year-old has showcased exceptional form for Crystal Palace this season, netting five goals in nine league appearances, even after missing the early part of the campaign due to injury.

WHAT CLINTON MORRISON SAID

Former Crystal Palace striker Morrison heaped praise on Olise, asserting that the talented player will come with a substantial price tag. Morrison went on to express his belief that Olise surpasses Manchester United’s struggling Brazilian winger Antony. Speaking on Sky Sports, Morrison remarked, “He is a true superstar with the potential to be anything he wants. Any of the top-four teams will be interested in securing his services from Crystal Palace. Olise has the ability to contribute both goals and assists to Manchester United; he’s an incredible player. I frequently discuss him with Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman. Acquiring Olise would require a significant investment, likely in the range of £60 to £70 million. Despite his youth, I am confident he will move on in the summer. He possesses all the qualities, and if we were to compare him to Antony, he stands head and shoulders above the Brazilian winger.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool is reportedly showing interest in Olise, and last summer, Chelsea came close to securing the French winger. However, Olise had a change of heart and decided to stay with Crystal Palace, despite Chelsea allegedly activating his £35 million release clause. Palace, feeling that Chelsea had engaged in illegal approaches to influence the player, threatened to go to a tribunal. In response, Olise opted to sign a contract extension, binding him to Selhurst Park until 2026.

DID YOU KNOW?

Reportedly, Olise is said to possess a release clause in his existing contract, set to take effect in the summer, and it is valued at £60 million ($76 million). Crystal Palace is resolute in retaining their valuable asset and might only consider parting ways if the specified release clause is triggered.

WHAT NEXT?

Olise, honored as the Players’ Player of the Season for the Eagles in 2022-23, is set to make a comeback in an FA Cup third-round replay against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday. In the meantime, Manchester United is presently on a brief hiatus and is scheduled to resume competitive play on January 28 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
