Manchester United is contemplating Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as they search for a new striker.

Manchester United may conclude the January transfer window without securing a new striker. However, if they do pursue a forward, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Bayern Munich is among the potential targets.
Erik ten Hag aims to bolster his squad with another goal-scorer. However, Manchester United is currently prioritizing player departures in the winter transfer window, making it challenging for them to make aggressive moves in the market, unless Antony Martial leaves the club.
Manchester United explored the possibility of acquiring Timo Werner in November, initiating inquiries. However, they did not formally pursue that interest. Instead, Werner has opted to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, with an option to buy. It’s important to note that Tottenham did not necessarily outpace United in securing his signature, even though there was admiration for the German international from Old Trafford.
Sources have verified with kool media that another striker being contemplated by Manchester United is Choupo-Moting, whose contract with Bayern Munich concludes in the summer.
The 34-year-old has seen limited use under head coach Thomas Tuchel since the notable arrival of Harry Kane in the summer. Choupo-Moting has participated in only 519 minutes across 14 matches for Bayern this season, scoring two goals. In contrast, he scored 17 goals in all competitions last season.
Choupo-Moting is considered a viable target within Manchester United’s financial constraints. However, as of now, there is no advanced progress regarding a potential deal.
United also expresses interest in Serhou Guirassy, currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Guinea and nursing a minor injury. Despite having a €17.5m (£15m) release clause, all signs indicate that Guirassy is content to remain at Stuttgart until the end of the season.
Looking ahead, Manchester United has internally discussed the prospect of Jonathan David as a striker. The Canadian’s contract with Lille is set to expire in 2025, and the Ligue 1 club may be compelled to consider a sale during the upcoming summer.
