Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, may be experiencing a tinge of regret regarding a decision he made last summer. During that time, he permitted one of his pivotal players, Granit Xhaka, to depart for Bayer Leverkusen in a £21 million deal. This decision is currently posing challenges for Arsenal, particularly as they navigate difficulties in the Premier League.

In the previous season, Arsenal performed admirably and held the lead in the Premier League for a substantial period. However, they were unable to thwart Manchester City from clinching the league title. In the current season, Arsenal began with lofty aspirations but has encountered a string of unfavorable outcomes, trailing five points behind Liverpool in the league and exiting the FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, asserted that Granit Xhaka exhibited a “distinct desire” to depart the club during the summer. Following 200 appearances for the Gunners over seven years, Xhaka has successfully made a £21.5 million transfer to Bayer Leverkusen. Arteta addressed questions from reporters regarding Xhaka’s departure after their 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly against Nuremberg.
