Chelsea is on the verge of finalizing a new contract with Conor Gallagher.
Chelsea is looking to make progress in securing a new contract with Conor Gallagher, with the 23-year-old midfielder’s impressive performances this season being a key factor. Team Talk reports that Chelsea may actively pursue an agreement for a new deal with Gallagher before the year’s end, especially given his noteworthy contributions under manager Mauricio Pochettino, who sees him as a reliable starter in the team.
Chelsea invested heavily in midfielders during the summer transfer window, securing Moises Caicedo in a club-record deal and spending nearly £60 million on Romeo Lavia. However, Lavia has faced challenges with injuries and has not made an appearance for the club since joining from Southampton.
His absence provided Chelsea with an opportunity to reassess the situation with Conor Gallagher, who attracted late interest from West Ham and Tottenham. The latter reportedly discovered Chelsea’s £50 million valuation and contemplated making an offer.
Gallagher, hailing from a family of Chelsea supporters, remains completely dedicated to his aspirations of progressing with the club. Following the resolution of his future with the closing of the transfer window, the 23-year-old midfielder has expressed a strong desire to sign a new deal.
Gallagher has consistently aimed for success at Stamford Bridge, showcasing commendable performances this season. Mauricio Pochettino has developed trust in the midfielder, granting him a pivotal role in the team’s midfield. Outperforming Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo this term, the 23-year-old may receive a formal contract offer from the club.
Despite initial reports of Chelsea’s progress, an official contract offer for Gallagher’s extension has not been made. Initially cautious, the club is now convinced of his deserving a more prolonged stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is prepared to intensify contract discussions with Gallagher, aiming to secure an agreement with their homegrown talent for an extended tenure. While the midfielder will consider proposals from the club, he would likely seek a significant contract for any long-term commitment.
Chelsea hopes to avoid a situation similar to that of Mason Mount, and Gallagher’s performances affirm his merit for a new deal. The club aims to conclude these discussions by the turn of the year, potentially resolving Gallagher’s long-term future within the next four weeks or so.
