Manchester United is on the verge of finalizing a £154 million agreement for the acquisition of a key player.

Despite not being able to attract the world’s top players, Manchester United maintains connections with them. The current focal point in transfer discussions revolves around Kylian Mbappe’s uncertain status at Paris Saint-Germain.
As per a recent report from The Times, the French international has rejected a move to Real Madrid and is expressing a preference for joining a Premier League team. Additionally, Sport, a reputable Spanish publication, has indicated that the PSG player might engage in negotiations to assess offers from English clubs in the coming weeks.
According to reports from Catalan sources, if the financial feasibility aligns, teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea would be willing to consider signing Mbappe. Despite being valued at 180 million euros (£154 million), the 25-year-old has the option to enter into pre-contract discussions this month with clubs outside of France.
Even in the scenario of a free transfer, acquiring the World Cup-winning playmaker would incur substantial costs. Sport suggests that Mbappe may need to be flexible in his demands, as no team is likely to match the financial terms offered by Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe, a former Monaco player, currently earns over 75 million euros per season, making him one of the highest-paid celebrities globally, as reported by The Athletic.
In all fairness, for Manchester United to have any hope of enticing Kylian Mbappe, they need to secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
United finished at the bottom of their Champions League group this season. Considering their current position and performance in the Premier League, it seems unlikely that they will participate in Europe’s premier competition next season.
