Liverpool ‘offered chance’ to sign world-class player in crazy cut-price deal

Arne Slot has been offered the chance to make one of the world’s best players his first signing as Liverpool manager. With pre-season still a few weeks away, Slot has yet to fully assess the squad he inherited from Jürgen Klopp. Once he has done so, he will work with Fenway Sports Group’s new CEO of football and former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards, as well as new sporting director Richard Hughes, to strengthen their ranks.
Liverpool are interested in signing Lille defender Leny Yoro, seeing it as a unique opportunity to land one of the most exciting prospects in world football. Additionally, the club is believed to be in the market for a new midfielder. The perfect opportunity to add a genuine world-class option in their engine room may have arisen with reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo indicating that a move has been made for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.
The 29-year-old Kimmich is out of contract at the Allianz Arena next summer, and Bayern are reportedly willing to cash in on their captain if he continues to refuse a new deal. Liverpool have already enquired about the possibility of signing the German international, who could be available for far less than his current market value. Caught Offside claims that Kimmich’s current valuation is around £42m but could be sold for less due to his contract situation.
Kimmich is not short of suitors, having been linked to Manchester City, Arsenal, and Real Madrid this summer. This means Liverpool will need to move quickly to secure his services. Liverpool’s first-choice defensive midfielder, Wataru Endo, who made a shock move to Anfield during last summer’s transfer window, impressed during his debut campaign.
With various reports stating the club is interested in signing an upgrade in his position, Endo has surprisingly agreed with the idea of adding another player to the same role.
Speaking to ABEMA Sports Time in Japan, Endo said, “I don’t care about those reports, but I also think it would be best to get a number 6 in midfield. I think there’s a question of whether they see the current number 10, Alexis Mac Allister, as a number 6 or an anchor. At the moment, there aren’t many number 6s in the first place.
Taking my age into account, I don’t think it would be a problem to get a new number 6. If it makes the team stronger in the end, I’m happy about it. There will be competition, and I’ll just have to earn my place. I’m not too worried. I actually think it would be a good idea to get one!”
In summary, Liverpool’s pursuit of Joshua Kimmich represents a significant opportunity to add a world-class talent to their midfield, potentially offsetting the impact of Jurgen Klopp’s departure and helping to shape the squad under new manager Arne Slot.
