Roy Keane is set to assume the position of manager at a surprising Premier League team.

The former Red Devils star is set to take on the position next month after engaging in several meetings with representatives from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
From 2013 to 2018, Keane acted as Martin O’Neill’s assistant for the Irish national team. Now, he is considered a potential successor to John O’Shea, who temporarily filled in after Stephen Kenny’s departure in November.
Keane brings a considerable amount of experience to the role. In a brief period from July to November 2014, he served as Aston Villa’s assistant manager before shifting his focus back to his duties with Ireland.
Following this, he rejoined O’Neill as Nottingham Forest’s assistant manager in January 2019, departing six months later.
Prior to his coaching endeavors, Keane had a notable playing career. He notably captained Sunderland from 2006 to 2008 before moving to Ipswich Town from 2009 to 2011.
Apart from his coaching pursuits, the Man United icon has gained recognition as a football pundit.
While he turned down an offer to manage Sunderland again, Keane shifted to punditry, where his frank and straightforward approach resonated with audiences.
However, if the FAI is convinced of his suitability for the position, Keane might soon re-enter the managerial arena.
During a recent episode of the Stick to Football podcast, he expressed his willingness to consider international management, noting its perceived lower stress levels compared to club management.
Keane’s recent punditry appearances across various platforms have reinforced his presence in the footballing community.
His direct analysis and bold viewpoints have won him favor among fans, underscoring his ongoing relevance and impact in the sport.
As speculation grows regarding Keane’s potential appointment, excitement mounts for his potential return to coaching.
With his wealth of experience, knowledge, and charisma, Keane could be on the brink of a successful return to management if he opts to seize the opportunity presented by the FAI.
