In a recent one-on-one discussion with Mikel Arteta, Micheal Olise has made the decision to sign with Arsenal. Despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool, the player has opted for Arsenal, citing his strong belief in the club’s project. This marks Mikel Arteta’s initial signing in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly entering the competition with several top Premier League clubs in the pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a standout player for the Eagles since his arrival from Reading in 2021, amassing 11 goals and 20 assists in 80 appearances across all competitions. Last season, Olise scored twice and provided 11 assists in 37 Premier League games. Although he missed the initial months of this season due to injury, he has made a strong comeback, contributing five goals in nine top-flight fixtures under Roy Hodgson.

Despite attracting significant interest from Chelsea last summer, Olise opted to commit his future to Palace in August by signing a new four-year contract until 2027. However, reports indicate that his new contract includes a release clause exceeding £50 million, leading to widespread speculation about a high-value departure from Selhurst Park in recent weeks.

Manchester United has identified Olise as a potential target for this summer, but some key officials at the club reportedly harbor reservations about pursuing the winger. Chelsea is still reportedly interested in Olise, and Liverpool, along with Premier League leaders Manchester City, is rumored to be monitoring the young player’s performances at Palace.

A fresh contender has reportedly joined the competition, as talkSPORT suggests that Arsenal is aware of Olise’s new release clause and is prepared to compete with fellow Premier League rivals for his acquisition.

Olise initially joined Arsenal’s development academy in 2009, later moving on to Chelsea, Manchester City, and ultimately making his professional debut with Reading.

While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is anticipated to bolster the team’s offensive options this year, it appears that securing a new center-forward is currently a higher priority for the club than signing a new winger. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have predominantly featured up front, with the latter receiving more first-team minutes in the absence of the former due to injury.

Arsenal has been experiencing a lack of clinical finishing in the final third recently, sparking speculation that the club might make significant investments in a new striker. Players such as Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Al Ittihad’s Karim Benzema are reportedly high on their list of targets.
