Manchester United officially announces the appointment of Omar Berrada as the new CEO.
Manchester United has officially appointed Omar Berrada, former Manchester City executive, as the club’s new CEO.
It was earlier confirmed that Omar Berrada, who had previously served as the chief football operations officer at City Football Group and has also worked with Barcelona, chose to step down from his position.
Former Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold departed the club in November amid negotiations with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group regarding a potential 25% stake. The confirmation of Omar Berrada as his successor has been made, with the current interim, Patrick Stewart, set to continue in the role until Berrada assumes his position.
A statement from Manchester United has announced the appointment of Omar Berrada as the new CEO. The club is dedicated to reinstating football and on-field performance as the core focus. Omar’s selection marks the initial step in this direction. With extensive experience as one of the top football executives in European football, he brings a wealth of expertise in both football and commercial aspects, demonstrating a successful track record in leadership. Currently serving as the Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group, overseeing 11 clubs across five continents, and with previous senior roles at Barcelona, Omar is poised to contribute to driving positive change throughout the club.
“Our expressed goal is to restore Manchester United as a championship-winning club. We are delighted to have Omar on board to contribute to achieving this objective, aiming to see the red flag flying high at the pinnacle of English, European, and world football, echoing the words of Sir Matt Busby. The specific start date for Omar will be announced in due course, and in the interim, Patrick Stewart will continue to serve as the interim CEO.”
Berrada, who held the position of Chief Football Operations Officer at City Football Group and played a significant role in their recent successes, has officially resigned from his role with Manchester City Football Club. The club acknowledges his decision to seek a new challenge and expresses gratitude for his contributions, extending best wishes for his future endeavors.
