Roberto Firmino or Karim Benzema to be acquired by Chelsea? For a temporary solution to the Blues’ goal-scoring problems, Mauricio Pochettino is keeping an eye on the Saudi Pro League.

The Saudi Pro League is apparently being considered by the Blues as a temporary fix as their summer acquisitions haven’t performed well thus far this season. But while the idea of seeing Benzema at Stamford Bridge is one that will have Chelsea fans thrilled, the former Real Madrid man is judged too vital to the Pro League ambition to be freed from Al-Ittihad.

More likely contenders are Firmino, who has had difficulty adjusting to Al-Ahli, and the intriguing Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is still a fan favorite at Fulham, a rival team in West London.

Although Chelsea has scored more goals this season than it did the previous, the Blues still find it difficult to capitalize on their possession and opportunities. The partnership between Chelsea’s owners, Clearlake and PIF, a Saudi investment company that owns four of the league’s best clubs, may allow a senior forward to provide some toughened experience to the Chelsea attack line, even if Clearlake has so far concentrated on bringing in youngsters in their transfer dealings.

WERE YOU AWARENESS?
Chelsea has a long history of producing prolific strikers and midfielders, but Diego Costa is the only member of the team to have scored 20 Premier League goals in 13 seasons—he did it in 2014–15 and 2016–17.
